Media Studies
"The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t said."
-- Peter Drucker
Our curriculum aims to develop media literacy by encouraging critical engagement with media products, evaluating the effects of media consumption, and becoming fluent in media language. We challenge students to discuss issues of language and representation with depth and nuance, ensuring that they leave with the media literacy needed to navigate a society and an employment landscape that are increasingly shaped by media technology. We challenge students to ensure that outcomes (both NEAs and exam assessments) reflect this literacy.
Students will analyze various media forms and apply their understanding to hands-on production tasks, using a range of tools such as photographic and audio-visual editing software. The media curriculum prepares students for higher education and a range of entry-level roles in the media sector.
